Montessori Time at Jean Mayer Preschool

One of the activities our children enjoy at Jean Mayer Preschool is Montessori Time. For a long time, Jean Mayer Preschool was known by some as a Montessori school. However, to clarify, Jean Mayer Preschool is not a Montessori school, but a preschool that is inspired by the Montessori method. So, what is the difference?

A Montessori school follows the Montessori philosophy and principles as the foundation of its entire educational system—from the learning environment and curriculum to the way teachers guide children and how learning takes place. Meanwhile, a Montessori-inspired school incorporates selected Montessori principles and practices into its existing educational approach. At Jean Mayer Preschool, we use various Montessori apparatus and activities to support our teaching and learning process, particularly in helping children develop independence, concentration, fine motor skills, practical life skills, and problem-solving abilities.

During Montessori Time, children have the opportunity to explore and work with different Montessori materials through hands-on activities. They learn by doing, exploring, and discovering at their own pace, while teachers provide guidance and encouragement along the way. 🌱✨ For us, Montessori Time is one of the many ways we make learning more meaningful, engaging, and enjoyable for our little learners.
